Boston Chops closes both locations 'to make way for new ownership'
""It has been an extraordinary journey full of celebrations, but we are now closed to make way for new ownership and a revitalized concept to better serve the community," the caption read."
"Back in October, Piccini said the reason he was selling Boston Chops - an acclaimed steakhouse by local and national media outlets - was so he could shift his focus to a new concept he's bringing to Weston's historical Josiah Smith Tavern called The Woods. Though details on an opening date and the menu aren't yet public, the restaurant is described as farm-to-table, and Piccini snagged the town's first public liquor license since Prohibition in order to serve drinks, reports The Boston Globe."
Both Boston Chops locations in the South End and Downtown closed on Jan. 1 under new ownership after more than a decade of operation. Urban Hospitality Group had owned the steakhouse brand and CEO Brian Piccini announced his intent to sell in October while planning to remain open during the search for a buyer. New ownership was secured and the closures are intended to allow a revitalized concept to better serve the community. Multiple customers reported recent gift card purchases without communication about honoring them, and Urban Hospitality Group had not responded to requests for comment. Piccini is shifting focus to a farm-to-table concept called The Woods at Weston’s Josiah Smith Tavern and obtained the town’s first public liquor license since Prohibition.
