Bay Area bakery debuts 7-foot Labubu made of bread
"[My mom] texted me one night and she's like, 'What if we do Labubu for our scarecrow and call it LeVanVan?'"
"Every time I look at the Labubu character, I laugh. It's the funniest-looking creature ever."
"It'll be outside until after Halloween,"
Catherine and Hannalee Pervan of One House Bakery built a seven-foot, 300-pound Labubu bread sculpture nicknamed LeVanVan for Benicia's Annual Scarecrow Contest. The project began around the end of August and required weeks of work, finishing late Wednesday evening with placement outside the bakery early Thursday morning. Construction used a wood, chicken wire and tinfoil frame covered with 'dead dough' for structural shaping, while sourdough mixed with high yeast, baking powder and baking soda formed the fur. Bakers cut and individually glued baked pieces and molded the face to achieve the final look.
