"Whether you've already been in to Bambi or you've struggled to bag a booking, we've got some good news - the restaurant and bar is growing this winter. After acquiring an empty venue behind Bambi, founder James Dye (who's also behind One Club Row and The Knave of Clubs) is knocking through into the space, doubling the venue in size."
"The restaurant will close from 12th January to 3rd February for the refurbishments, which will see the DJ booth and record wall pushed back, a mezzanine added to the expanded 70-cover dining area, and more seating and heaters added to the front courtyard. The expansion will leave the outdoor area and indoor front bar for walk-ins, so it'll be easier to get into Bambi without a ressie."
"A bigger space also means a bigger kitchen; there'll now be room for a charcoal grill and a dry ager, so new head chef Jamie Thorneycroft (ex-Lagom) is taking the opportunity to revamp the menu. His new dishes will include: crab salad with nahm jim and green papaya Chalkstream trout tostada with miso and sesame peri peri Atlantic prawns with black garlic aioli and lime butterflied whole bream with coconut saffron sauce, matchsticks and dill"
Bambi in London Fields is doubling its space after the owner acquired an adjacent empty venue and will knock through into it. The restaurant will close from 12th January to 3rd February for refurbishments that include pushing back the DJ booth and record wall, adding a mezzanine to create a 70-cover dining area, and increasing front courtyard seating with heaters. The expansion creates room for a larger kitchen with a charcoal grill and dry ager, and new head chef Jamie Thorneycroft will introduce revamped dishes. DJs will play every night and the venue will host late-night dancing until 1am.
