An Iconic Montecito Steakhouse Will Expand to the Arts District
"The first Lucky's Steakhouse opened in the tony Montecito in 2000, taking over the historic Montecito bungalows. The restaurant attracts a star-studded crowd, including Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. In 2020, Lucky's expanded to Malibu right before COVID-19 restrictions impacted Los Angeles, and it later opened for full dine-in service in 2021. In the years since, Lucky's has expanded to New York City and is developing a location in the Hamptons."
"Little Tokyo restaurant Mitsuru Grill closed on August 28 after 49 years. The restaurant, which first opened in 1976 as a lunch counter, was a local favorite for sushi, donburi, udon, and more. The Little Tokyo Service Center reports that the closure is linked to owners Mamoru and Dora Hanamure's retirement. Mitsuru Grill announced the closure in an Instagram post, thanking customers for their decades of support."
Montecito steakhouse Lucky's will open a new outpost in the Arts District on Mateo Street, with initial signage displayed and a liquor license acquired. Lucky's began in Montecito in 2000, has drawn celebrities including Prince Harry and Meghan, and has since expanded to Malibu and New York City while developing a Hamptons location. The Arts District menu has not been announced but will likely mirror other locations with filet mignon, chopped salad, grilled artichoke, and steakhouse classics. Little Tokyo's Mitsuru Grill closed after 49 years due to the owners' retirement. Chinatown's Cafe Tondo introduced a new menu by chef Luis Luna. Pasadena's Agnes will collaborate with Capri Club for reciprocal events in late September and October.
