"Chef George Mendes, whose former NYC restaurant Aldea earned a Michelin star, is bringing two concepts to Boston, starting with a tasting menu at Agosto that will blend Mendes' Portuguese roots with his experiences as a chef in New York, France, and Spain, Boston magazine reports. Baby Sister will be a bakery-cafe that will serve bread, breakfast sandwiches, and Portugal's beloved pastry, the Pastéis de nata."

It's a good time to be a Greater Boston diner, with exciting and diverse restaurant openings occurring all over the metro area in 2025 and much more to look forward to in the new year."
Greater Boston will see numerous restaurant openings across 2025 and 2026, with a mixture of permanent restaurants, pop-ups, collaborations, and events. Chef George Mendes plans two Boston concepts: Agosto, a tasting-menu restaurant blending Portuguese roots with experience from New York, France, and Spain, opening summer 2026, and Baby Sister, a bakery-cafe serving bread, breakfast sandwiches, and pastéis de nata, opening late 2026. A Somerville spot at 282 Beacon St. has opened as a Latin American–flavored tapas and cocktail bar featuring birria empanadas, sweet plantain gnocchi, and cocktails ranging from spirit-forward to sweet-and-sour. Other openings include locations in Winchester and Milton and an expanding North End espresso bar.
