Many food prices have increased over the past few months, affecting everyday shopping. Carrots have risen from $1.00 per pound to $1.35, while 10lb bags of chicken leg quarters increased from about $5.50 to $7.80. Discount grocery stores have also seen price hikes on fresh produce, meats, and canned goods. The rise in costs has led to a shift towards more vegetarian meal options as a way to save money on groceries.
In just the past two or three months, I've noticed multiple things have gone up in price. Last week, I noticed that carrots, traditionally about $1.00/lb in my stores, are now $1.35/lb.
Even dried beans are skyrocketing. I had been bulk cooking cheaper casserole and chili-like recipes, but sometimes that still isn't enough.
