10 California restaurants make the new 50 Best' list
"The World's 50 Best Restaurants, a list that's been compiled by a British media company for nearly a quarter-century, has just announced its inaugural ranking of North America's 50 Best Restaurants. Ten California restaurants made the list, with SingleThread in Healdsburg ranking the highest (No. 8), and also winning Most Sustainable Restaurant and Best in the West honors. Six of the ranked restaurants are located in San Francisco, and three in Los Angeles. Atomix in New York City ranked No. 1."
"SingleThread, an upscale farm-to-table concept from chef Kyle Connaughton and farmer Katina Connaughton, holds three Michelin stars, as do three other local 50 Best honorees. They are Benu (No. 13 on this list), Atelier Crenn (No. 46) and Quince (No. 48). The other San Francisco restaurants making the list are Californios (No. 14), Saison (No. 21) and Lazy Bear (No. 25). The Los Angeles area honorees are Kato (No. 26), Holbox (No. 42) and Providence (No. 47)."
The World's 50 Best Restaurants released its first North America ranking, placing Atomix in New York City at No. 1. Ten California restaurants appear on the list, led by SingleThread in Healdsburg at No. 8, which also won Most Sustainable Restaurant and Best in the West. Six San Francisco and three Los Angeles establishments made the cut. Several honorees hold three Michelin stars, including SingleThread, Benu, Atelier Crenn and Quince. The French Laundry in Yountville entered the Best of the Best Hall of Fame. Rankings reflect votes from 300 expert voters naming their top eight experiences.
