"I could hear it in his voice, says Polsky on a recent video call, recalling DeLuca's hesitation to bring up his idea. He's like, This is kind of weird, and I don't know why I thought of you, but would you be open to hearing this really strange story that came across my desk?' Polsky, whose past film projects include documentary and feature films with collaborators such as Nicolas Cage, Wayne Gretzky and Werner Herzog, said yes."

Filmmaker Gabe Polsky received an unexpected tip from producer Doug DeLuca that led to a film project about Patrick McCollum. Patrick McCollum is a peace facilitator and chaplain chosen years ago by South American tribes as the figure in an ancient prophecy who would help save the planet by unifying native peoples. The documentary The Man Who Saves the World? shows McCollum meeting Kogi and other indigenous elders and working to bring tribes together to protect the Amazon. The film presents imagery of tribal ceremonies, McCollum with elders and allies, and visible support from figures such as Jane Goodall.
