Standout elements include Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, whose chemistry, deep mutual respect, and singing anchor the film and keep it emotionally engaging. Some musical sequences retain whimsical charm, and certain elements improve slightly, but the overall shortcomings remain significant across the extended running time.
