Rockwell conditions the rematch on humiliating Marty by spanking him with a ping-pong paddle at a party. Chalamet insisted on receiving the spanking himself rather than using a stand-in or a fake paddle. O'Leary warned Chalamet about potential injury but complied. The fake paddle broke on the first hit, forcing O'Leary to use a real ping-pong paddle. The production used the take in which O'Leary struck Chalamet hardest.
