"Directed by Leo Hoorn, the spellbinding 45-minute-long documentary, released on VOD on Feb. 13 by clothing company North Face, uses drones to capture some of the most remote mountain peaks and scenery in the world. But as mesmerizing as the documentary is to watch, it's also gripping to see Morrison and fellow mountaineer Christina Lustenberger contending with the dangerous conditions, extreme exposure, sudden avalanches and mental demands of such a climb."
"Growing up in Walnut Creek, Jim Morrison would visit the Sunrise Mountaineering store every opportunity he had. "I would just look at the photos and slide shows they had of people climbing these big mountains in Canada and Alaska," Morrison recalls to SFGATE. His fascination well and truly piqued, a 13-year-old Morrison began venturing out to Mount Diablo to rock-climb."
A 13-year-old Jim Morrison began rock-climbing on Mount Diablo after frequenting Sunrise Mountaineering in Walnut Creek. In October 2025 he became the first person to ski down Mount Everest's north face. The documentary "Trango," directed by Leo Hoorn and released on VOD Feb. 13 by North Face, runs 45 minutes and uses drones to capture remote Karakoram peaks. The film follows Morrison and Christina Lustenberger confronting dangerous conditions, extreme exposure, avalanches and intense mental demands. Morrison's partner Hilaree Nelson died on Manaslu in 2022. An April 2023 Trango attempt was abandoned due to poor conditions and an impassable crevasse; Morrison returned over a year later with Chantel Astorga, while Lustenberger fell ill early in the trip.
