The Running Man's Simon Haines on the importance of bi representation
"The dystopian action thriller is based on as Stephen King story and is a remake of the 1987 film that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and was directed by Starsky & Hutch star Paul Michael Glaser. The reboot has Glen Powell as Ben Richards who enters the TV show, The Running Man, in the hope of winning the $1 billion prize money to help his sick child."
""It was a real thrill," says Haines of shooting. The actor, whose character helps Richards get on the show, has nothing but positive things to say of his leading man. "He was a real team player. You can tell that he's a real leading man in terms of the way he conducts himself with the cast and crew," Haines enthuses."
Simon Haines saw only Hot Fuzz by Edgar Wright as a child, finding it funny but too gory. He appears in the rebooted dystopian action thriller The Running Man, a Stephen King–based remake starring Glen Powell as Ben Richards competing for $1 billion to help his sick child. Haines's character helps Richards enter the TV show. Haines praises Glen Powell as a team player and a true leading man. Haines, who is bisexual, values working alongside queer actors including Lee Pace, Katy O'Brian and Colman Domingo. He has screen credits on The Rings of Power and Emmerdale, extensive stage experience, and is developing a play about a closeted bisexual footballer centered on a Brick-like character.
