The best movie about the pandemic yet is still not a very good movie
Briefly

Eddington, a film by A24, explores the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic in a fictional town. Sheriff Joe Cross, played by Joaquin Phoenix, protests against mask mandates and announces a mayoral run, capturing the anxieties of the time. Supporting characters include Pedro Pascal as the selling mayor and Emma Stone as Cross' wife, with themes centered on conspiracy theories and societal discontent. Despite its ambition, Aster's broad critique of American issues lacks the depth found in the film's finer details, resulting in a mixed reception.
Eddington is supposed to be a microcosm of what's wrong with the US, though Aster's diagnosis feels overly broad. The film works better when it comes to the finer details.
In a fictional New Mexican town, Sheriff Joe Cross is unhappy about statewide COVID-19 precautions. He simply hates wearing a mask, claiming that a KN95 is oppressive.
