Romchyk, an award-winning film, tells the true story of Roman Oleksiv, a young Ukrainian boy injured by a bomb, reflecting the harrowing impact of war on children. Filmed by Goldsmiths students in London, the movie portrays Roman's journey of recovery and his aspiration to become a professional dancer. It showcases the dedication of the filmmakers, who creatively transformed their environment to depict Ukraine. The film was highlighted at the Vatican, emphasizing the urgent need to recognize and address the consequences of war on youth.
The biggest award for me is that Roman and his father really liked this film and the careful way we handled his story.
For me he became a symbol of all children who suffer because of war.
