Sentimental Value Finds an Even Worse Person in the World
Briefly

Sentimental Value reunites the creative team behind The Worst Person in the World, starring Renate Reinsve, directed by Joachim Trier, with a screenplay by Trier and Eskil Vogt. This new film showcases Reinsve as Nora, the daughter of a troubled film director, Gustav Borg, portrayed by Stellan Skarsgård. The film explores their strained relationship, alongside Nora's conflict over rejecting a role in her father's upcoming film, now offered to a rival actress, played by Elle Fanning. Sentimental Value has earned critical acclaim and won the Grand Prix at Cannes 2025.
Reinsve, with that phenomenally open, oval face, does an unreal job of transmitting emotions that Nora is barely aware that she's feeling.
Skarsgård is at turns infuriating, charming, and pitiable as an aging artist filled with regret, but also too stubborn to yield.
