Because of Another Planet Entertainment's renovation of the Castro, which began last spring and is scheduled to be completed by the end of the summer, there will be no full silent film festival this spring.
Artistic Director Anita Monga has started programming an autumn festival, but until Berkeley-based APE is able to offer a firm reopening date for the Castro, those plans remain tentative.
Thus, the decision to host 'The Manxman' at the 700-seat cathedral as well as a 'Day of Silents' at SFJazz Center on Feb. 2, which will screen four films, including a Buster Keaton comedy."
