Reparo! Harry Potter film crew mend potholes blighting Devon village
"Good news! The filming company have been given permission by the DCC [Devon county council] highways to proceed with repairs on Wreyland Path, using an approved contractor. The contractor will fill all large potholes manually and will then assess if further work needs to be carried out. The path will not be shut so can be used as normal."
"Can fix potholes for filming but not for everyday use."
"Would it be possible for the parish council [to] ask the film company, as a good token gesture, to do all the other roads in the parish?"
"Harry Potter and the potholes good new book heading."
HBO is filming scenes for a new Harry Potter adaptation in Lustleigh, Devon, and film-makers have repaired several potholes in the village. The parish council posted that the filming company received Devon County Council highways permission to repair Wreyland Path using an approved contractor, who will manually fill large potholes and then assess whether further work is needed while keeping the path open. Villagers welcomed the repairs but questioned why fixes were prompted by filming rather than routine maintenance. Lustleigh has a volunteer pothole repair team and a tracker spreadsheet; larger defects must be reported to the county council. Previous filming took place in Cadgwith, Cornwall.
