Ray Winstone, aged 68 and born in Hackney, received the Freedom of the City of London in recognition of his charity work. His film credits include The Departed, Scum, Sexy Beast, Quadrophenia, Cold Mountain and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Television appearances include The Bill, Ever Decreasing Circles, One Foot in the Grave, Boon and Birds Of A Feather. Winstone has long supported causes such as the West Ham United Foundation and the ICAP Charity Day. He expressed pride in London and gratitude to Lady Mayor Sue Langley, Mansion House hosts, and former Lord Mayors Alastair King and William Russell.
