Philip Seymour Hoffman's Son Cooper Opens Up About Wishing for His Dad's Advice
Briefly

Cooper Hoffman, son of late actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, reflects on his father’s influence as he embarks on his acting career. At 22, he shares his admiration for his late father, wishing he could seek his guidance in the industry. Hoffman recalls the duality of idolizing a parent who was both an exceptional artist and his father. He discusses his fear of judgment from his father while expressing a desire for his support. Currently, he appears in his fifth film, adapting Stephen King's novel "The Long Walk," despite personal reservations linked to his father's passing.
"The only person I really wanted to talk to was my dad," Hoffman said in an interview with GQ published on Aug. 19.
"He's my favorite actor, but he's also my dad," Hoffman told GQ. "He's also not here. A lot of people idolize their parents because they're great parents. It's a different thing to idolize your parent because you love their art."
"So as much as I would love him to be here and talk to him about acting, I also would be terrified to have him see my stuff and judge my stuff," Hoffman said about his father.
"I get to figure this out on my own," he continued. "But also, I would love his advice. And I would also just love my dad."
