No One Gets a Live-Action Spin-off Like Gaston
"Disney better have a lot of protein ready at crafty. Their hunkiest villain is getting his own live-action spin-off. A movie based on Beauty and the Beast's signature egg lover, Gaston, is in early development at Disney, according to . Reportedly, the movie will have "swashbuckling" tones, with a new actor playing Gaston, replacing Luke Evans, who starred as the arrogant beefcake in the 2017 live-action version opposite Emma Watson."
"Evans is starring as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in Rocky Horror on Broadway, so he'll be enjoying his break from eating his daily dose of five dozen eggs. Evans was previously attached to a TV series spin-off, but despite the live-action film's financial success, the idea was eventually scrapped. For this new version, Dave Callaham, Across the Spider-Verse co-writer, is attached to write the script. There is no director announced at the moment; however, Michelle Rejwan is confirmed as a producer."
"In the original film, Gaston tries to win the affection of Belle, a bookworm who falls in love with a Beast. Gaston, alongside his sidekick LeFou, attempted to kill the Beast but failed and ended up falling to his death off a balcony. So maybe the spin-off will follow a younger Gaston becoming the beloved hunter and how he befriends LeFou. Or if it's set in the future, they'll just show us that no one takes a fall like Gaston."
