Four Indigenous siblings, aged 13, 9, 5 and 11 months, were stranded in the Colombian rainforest after a small plane crashed on May 1, 2023, killing their mother and the pilot. The children spent 40 days alone in dense jungle conditions before a search that combined Colombian military forces and Indigenous trackers located them. The film Lost in the Jungle reconstructs their survival and the rescue effort. Juan Camilo Cruz directed and produced the film alongside Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin. Filmmakers emphasize Indigenous wisdom, the resilience of the children, and cross-community cooperation during the search and rescue.
