Mary J. Blige Bringing Madison Square Garden Concert To Theaters
"Being able to share this moment globally with my fans, who can experience this together in a movie theater, is more special than I can put into words,"
"This tour was always for my fans and being able to make this into a movie for them means the world."
"Mary J. Blige has always represented the heart and soul of New York, and her Madison Square Garden performance reflects that,"
"I mean, it's every artist's dream, but I grew up in the Bronx. This is my home. This moment really feels like a homecoming and a truly surreal moment. Playing for the crowd at MSG, and being able to amplify that through this partnership with Veeps, is a dream come true. I want everyone to grab their friends and throw a watch party. Sing and dance and have a blast - this one is all for my fans."
Mary J. Blige will release her first concert film, Mary J. Blige: For My Fans, with scheduled theatrical screenings on Nov. 5, 7, and 8. The feature highlights performances from each decade of her career, behind-the-scenes footage, and surprise guest appearances. Portions were recorded at her sold-out April show at Madison Square Garden. Trafalgar Releasing will distribute the film and present the historic hometown concert globally. The project stems from Blige's desire to celebrate fans and her Bronx roots, and it connects to previous live streaming through a partnership with Veeps to amplify the MSG performance.
