Mary Elizabeth Winstead on new movie: "it's going to be a scary one!"
"Imagine discovering that the nanny caring for your children isn't who she claims to be!"
"It was so cool to be able to play that out in real time, like just get to show up and enjoy each other's company, getting to know one another and then slowly have Maika coming in and starting to kind of scratch at the surface of what's going on in that house."
"probably the most fun that I've had in a role in a long time because I got to play the villain."
The Hand That Rocks the Cradle is a modern retelling of a 1992 psychological thriller about a nanny who is not who she appears to be. Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Maika Monroe lead the cast, with Monroe portraying the villainous nanny and Winstead portraying a family member experiencing increasing unrest. The production had cast members inhabit a house to portray an initially happy family before tensions rise and sinister behavior emerges. The film premiered at the Walt Disney Studios lot in Burbank and will debut on Hulu on October 22. Hulu is owned by The Walt Disney Company.
