"While SNL is one of the most examined and celebrated shows in television history, the man who built and sustained the institution for nearly five decades has largely remained out of view. Lorne reframes a cultural story audiences think they know, offering unprecedented access to the quiet force who shaped American comedy."
Focus Features is releasing a documentary titled Lorne, directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville, that examines the life and legacy of Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels. The documentary features interviews with prominent cast members and writers including Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph, John Mulaney, Andy Samberg, Conan O'Brien, and Chris Rock. The film aims to reframe the cultural story of SNL by providing unprecedented access to Michaels and revealing how he shaped American comedy. The documentary releases in theaters on April 17th, 2026.
