Disney is reviving its classic animated film 'Lilo & Stitch' with a new live-action version that premiered at the iconic El Capitan Theatre. The film features Maia Kealoha as Lilo, who befriends an alien called Stitch. Chris Sanders reprises his role as Stitch, sharing his excitement about embodying the character again. Director Dean Fleischer Camp highlights the genuine joy and magic of seeing the film resonated with its audience. The remake opens in theaters on the Memorial Day weekend, promising to attract both new viewers and nostalgic fans of the original.
"I'm so happy to be here. It's my first premiere, so I am so excited," Maia said.
"Stitch simply is an extension of me. He's chaotic neutral. He causes as much trouble as he fixes, so yeah, he acts like I do," Sanders said.
"It's the reason we all do it. It's the joy and magic in the room, seeing all of your hard work on a screen with an audience laughing and crying is the best feeling in the world," said director Dean Fleischer Camp.
The new 'Lilo & Stitch' opens in theaters Friday for the long Memorial Day weekend.
