Judi Dench says she can't remember what I'm doing tomorrow' but can still recite Shakespeare

"I can't remember what I'm doing tomorrow, I swear to you, she told the Radio Times; her assistants then confirmed that she does sometimes require such help."

"It's a crusher, she added, saying that she can no longer watch television. I miss seeing Clive Myrie doing Mastermind, she said, but I can hear the questions."

Judi Dench is experiencing worsening eyesight and increasing short-term memory problems, struggling to recall immediate appointments while retaining extensive memory for Shakespeare. Her age-related macular degeneration leaves faces foggy even at close range and has made television viewing and reading difficult. She now requires assistance in public to avoid falls and has effectively retired from full-time acting because she cannot see on film sets. She fronts a documentary about her relationship with Shakespeare and will be interviewed by Kenneth Branagh over Christmas. She remains in contact with Kevin Spacey and had recent film roles and an Oscar nomination in 2022.
