Chris Sarandon, 83, appears healthy and genial during a Zoom from his Connecticut home office. He occasionally attends autograph conventions and values the devotion of fans who create memorabilia. He considers himself long retired from acting and describes current life as centered on podcasting and tending a large garden. His notable film work includes Fright Night (1985), The Princess Bride (1987), Child's Play (1989), and the speaking voice of Jack Skellington in The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993). He recounts a Houston encounter where a family presented a handmade diorama of his characters, which he plans to display.
