How The Most Ambitious Vampire Movie Of The Year Found Its Secret Weapon
""Labeling somebody 'good' or 'bad' is an interesting thing to me," Long tells Inverse. "It's all perception. Even somebody as bad as a murderer, I'm so curious about what they really believe of themselves, how they feel about their behavior, and how they justify it.""
""It's all perception.""
Justin Long transformed his Nice Guy persona by playing morally ambiguous, narcissistic characters with suppressed humanity. He approaches morality as a matter of perception and expresses curiosity about how even violent people rationalize their behavior. Long took on a new role in Night Patrol, portraying Ethan caught between a vampire-infused LAPD cult and rival gangs, with a resurrected father figure leading the force and real-life wrestlers among the lieutenants. The fantastical setting forced Long to find creative approaches to the character while maintaining an inner humanity similar to his previous darker turn.
