Lin directed multiple Fast and Furious movies, including 2021's F9: The Fast Saga. Apart from those films and Star Trek Beyond, he directed multiple episodes of True Detective and Community. The Helldivers movie is in the works at PlayStation Productions, the division within PlayStation that handles the film and TV adaptations of PlayStation's franchises."
Helldivers is being adapted into a feature film with Justin Lin set to direct and Gary Dauberman attached as screenwriter. Arrowhead Studios CEO Shams Jorjani expressed trust in Lin and encouraged patience, noting Lin's work on Star Trek Beyond. The Hollywood Reporter reported Lin's lack of gaming experience aided his hire and that he aims to find humanity in characters and weave timely themes into the story. Lin's credits include multiple Fast and Furious films and episodic television work. PlayStation Productions is producing the film and is also developing several other PlayStation franchise adaptations including Horizon, Days Gone, Ghost of Tsushima, Gravity Rush, and TV projects such as The Last of Us and God of War.
