Arrowhead Studios CEO Shams Jorjani expressed trust in Lin and encouraged patience, noting Lin's work on Star Trek Beyond. The Hollywood Reporter reported Lin's lack of gaming experience aided his hire and that he aims to find humanity in characters and weave timely themes into the story. Lin's credits include multiple Fast and Furious films and episodic television work. PlayStation Productions is producing the film and is also developing several other PlayStation franchise adaptations including Horizon, Days Gone, Ghost of Tsushima, Gravity Rush, and TV projects such as The Last of Us and God of War.
