"I'm very thankful for being invited to this project by Maggie Gyllenhaal! I was a fan before, but when I read the manuscript for the first time, I was hooked. The language of The Bride! is poetic, fun and magical, exactly where I like to exist."
"A lonely Frankenstein travels to 1930s Chicago to ask groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious to create a companion for him. The two revive a murdered young woman and The Bride is born. What ensues is beyond what either of them imagined: Murder! Possession! A wild and radical cultural movement! And outlaw lovers in a wild and combustible romance!"
Maggie Gyllenhaal's directorial film The Bride! reimagines The Bride of Frankenstein and releases March 6. Fever Ray, who appears in the film, created two original songs: "The Lake" and "Wrong Flower." Both tracks are available in cinematic versions used in the film and original studio mixes on a new EP. Fever Ray's Karin Dreijer expressed enthusiasm about the project, praising the film's poetic and magical language. The Bride stars Jessie Buckley, Christian Bale, Annette Bening, Penélope Cruz, and Jake Gyllenhaal, with a score by Hildur Guðnadóttir. The film follows a lonely Frankenstein who asks a scientist to create a companion, resulting in unexpected consequences including murder, possession, and a radical cultural movement.
