Exclusive First Look: The Bluff,' a Brutal, Hard-R Pirate Film
"One of the most beautiful women on the planet is covered with blood and dirt as she curls her hand inside the opening of a conch shell. She raises it as a makeshift set of brass knuckles and proceeds to pulverize the face of one of the buccaneers who has attacked her island home. This is Priyanka Chopra Jonas's first major fight scene in The Bluff, which tells you this is far different from the kind of pirate film moviegoers have seen before."
"When they find her, she is a mother, a wife, and a prominent resident of a peaceful island in the Caymans where others have also washed ashore from far-flung places and rebuilt their lives free of grueling servitude. In her old life, she was known as Bloody Marya nickname she is more than willing to reclaim if it means protecting her home and loved ones from the marauders of her past."
Priyanka Chopra Jonas stars as Ercell Bodden, a former pirate known as Bloody Mary who now lives on a peaceful Cayman island with a family. Her island is attacked by her former crew, who are hunting her for fleeing years earlier and stealing a sizable cache of gold. The film is an R-rated, late-1800s-set adventure that emphasizes brutal, violent piracy more akin to a Mafia tale than romanticized amusement-park portrayals. Bodden reclaims her violent past to protect her home and loved ones as desperate, vicious pirates punish escape from their savage work. The film debuts on Prime Video February 25.
