Frank Barrie, an esteemed actor, passed away at the age of 88, peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He gained prominence playing Edward Bishop in the BBC soap from 2010 to 2011, where his character led the church choir. Barrie was associated with Sir Laurence Olivier's National Theatre Company and recognized for his roles in Shakespearean plays. His one-man show, Macready!, toured 65 countries. With over 150 screen appearances, he also directed acclaimed productions and wrote several notable works. Tributes have poured in for him on social media following his passing.
Barrie died peacefully at home surrounded by his family. It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved client, Frank Barrie, at the age of 88.
The Yorkshire-born actor from Scarborough played Edward Bishop in the BBC soap from 2010 to 2011. His character was the leader of the local church choir.
Barrie was a member of Sir Laurence Olivier's National Theatre Company at the Old Vic and was praised for his numerous Shakespearean and other stage roles.
Barrie made more than 150 screen appearances, including in shows such as Emergency Ward 10, No Hiding Place, Softly, Softly, and Queen Of Swords.
