In the season 2 finale of The Rehearsal, Nathan Fielder actually flew a Boeing 737, showcasing his skills after completing pilot training. His intent was to convey themes of communication and safety within aviation by executing a real flight, despite initial skepticism from audiences. Throughout this season, Fielder built various realistic scenarios, including recreating an airport and a family. His training and subsequent successful landing of the 737 became a significant focus, revealing insights about human interaction and systems meant to safeguard lives as he engaged with the complexities of aviation.
It became my primary focus for a while in the early stages of making the show, Fielder told Vulture after the season 2 finale. But it was hard because we'd be going and doing other shoots and then I'd be going and doing training. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do.
I knew the FAA registry was public, so I was like, Well, if I do this, I know people might look it up and think it’s a ruse.
