Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni's Trial Is Getting Pushed Back
"Originally scheduled to start March 9, 2026, the It Ends With Us trial now starts on May 18, per . Judge Lewis J. Liman of the Southern District of New York explained that two criminal trials that "take precedent" over a civil trial. The next hearing is on January 22, and Judge Liman reportedly told the parties at a post-discovery hearing on December 9 to talk about settlements, if needed."
"Several months after the film's release, a rumor-filled press tour had led fans to pit Lively and Baldoni against each other. In the lawsuit, Lively claims that Baldoni and his team spearheaded a smear campaign against her as retaliation for reporting alleged sexual harassment against him. He filed a countersuit against Lively around the same time, but it was dismissed by a judge in June 2025."
Civil trial between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively has been postponed from March 9, 2026 to May 18, 2026 because two criminal trials take precedence, according to Judge Lewis J. Liman. The next court hearing is January 22, and Liman told parties at a December 9 post-discovery hearing to discuss settlements if necessary. Lively sued Baldoni and his production company in December 2024 for emotional distress and retaliation, alleging a smear campaign in retaliation for reporting alleged sexual harassment. Baldoni filed a countersuit that was dismissed in June 2025. The trial delay pushes resolution out six more months amid additional film adaptations of Colleen Hoover's work.
