Al Pacino on how he got his Modigliani film off the ground after 30 years
Briefly

Al Pacino, a renowned star since the 1970s, has spent 30 years striving to bring the story of Amedeo Modigliani to life in film. Development of the project faced multiple challenges, given the hurdles intersecting with art films. Eventually, the film, titled Modigliani: Three Days on the Wing of Madness, directed by Johnny Depp, is set for release in July. It aims to portray Modigliani's struggles with poverty, addiction, and lack of recognition, highlighting universal themes of rejection. Pacino will play an American collector pivotal to the artist's dream, while Italian actor Riccardo Scamarcio embodies Modigliani.
Pacino recounted his long journey to create a film about Modigliani, saying, "There is something in this story that is not just identifiable with [the] artist. There is that connection to rejection in all of us."
Depp shared his thoughts on casting Scamarcio, stating, "When I saw Riccardo, his eyes reminded me of Oliver Reed... I see something of Oliver Reed, as well as of Marcello Mastroianni, the classic movie star."
