Adele will make her acting debut in Tom Ford's film Cry to Heaven, based on Anne Rice's 1982 novel. The story centers on singers Guido and Tonio pursuing opera careers in 18th-century Italy. Adele's role has not been revealed. The cast features Thandiwe Newton, Colin Firth, Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ciarán Hinds, George MacKay, Mark Strong, Paul Bettany and others. Tom Ford wrote the screenplay and will direct and produce through his company Fade to Black. Production begins mid-January and the film is expected to be released late next fall. Adele previously signaled interest in acting and in specific movie projects.
