"(In a May 2024 statement, Altman apologized to Johansson and said Sky's voice was "never intended to resemble" hers.)"
Adam Bhala Lough pursued an interview with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman for about 100 days without a response while financiers pressed him to deliver his original pitch. After attempting to gate-crash OpenAI and being removed by security, he shifted strategies and commissioned a voice clone inspired by the Scarlett Johansson–Sky controversy. The voice clone project expanded into a full deepfake, Sam Bot, created in India. Sam Bot evolves unexpectedly into its own entity, prompting a stranger, revelatory exploration of AI's societal impact. The project interrogates questions of identity, agency, and consequences of synthetic representation.
