The demise of animated movies has been greatly exaggerated, as the CinemaCon 2024 lineup shows, with Disney and Pixar having massive sequels like Inside Out 2 and a Lion King prequel, Paramount releasing the first Transformers animated movie in almost 40 years, Universal launching a new Despicable Me movie and an adaptation of The Wild Robot, and Warner Bros. preparing a surprising anime project, Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim.
With all these highly anticipated animated movies set for release in the next eight months, 2024 is expected to be the biggest year for animation since 2019, which featured hits like The Lion King, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, and The Lego Movie 2.
