Gil Junger, director of the classic 1999 rom-com '10 Things I Hate About You,' is developing a sequel titled '10 Things I Hate About Dating.' He collaborates with original producer Andrew Lazar and co-writer Naya Elle James. Although casting plans are in early stages, Junger hopes for involvement from original cast members, particularly Julia Stiles and Larry Miller. He also aims to include a tribute to Heath Ledger, who played Patrick, ensuring his memory is honored in the new film, which sets out to create a trilogy.
Junger is working with the film's original producer, Andrew Lazar, saying "10 Things I Hate About Dating" is definitively in the works as a feature film.
He teased that the trio has "some pretty good ideas" for the follow-up film, highlighting the creative energy behind this project.
Junger expressed a desire to potentially include cameos or real parts for the original cast, emphasizing the lasting impact of the first film.
Regarding late actor Heath Ledger, Junger commented that honoring his legacy in the new film is a "beautiful idea" and "he deserves to be loved."
