Designer Leda Athanasopoulou, alongside architect Katerina Tsigarida, is elevating Patmosâ local craftsmanship by revitalizing a historic seaside property. Their design harmonizes with the island's aesthetic, featuring a new main house influenced by traditional Patmian architecture. This project reflects Athanasopoulou's lifelong connection to Patmos and her commitment to authenticity. By preserving cultural elements and creating a clean, modern aesthetic, they ensure that the new structure complements the landscape and maintains the islandâs rich heritage, showcasing the importance of local artisanship to contemporary design.
"All of my life, I've been connected to this island," says Athanasopoulou, who spent childhood summers on Patmos and was inspired by its authentic historic preservation.
The mother-daughter team of architect Katerina Tsigarida and interior designer Lena Athanasopoulou restored an ancient seaside property, blending modern designs with Patmian architectural practices.
The new main house mirrors the restored 19th-century residence, maintaining panoramic views while expanding interior spaces within the natural landscape.
Athanasopoulou emphasizes the importance of authenticity over luxury in their designs, aligning with Patmos' rich cultural and architectural ethos.
