"At Claridge's, in London, Daniel Lee, the chief creative officer at Burberry, has decorated a 16-foot tree with some 600 bows made from surplus Burberry fabrics. Alongside the bows are hanging bells and chess-piece ornaments. The latter is inspired by the brand's Equestrian Knight Design, featuring a knight on horseback who is carrying a flag and shield. The top of the tree will appropriately boast a gold crown while at the tree's base, there will be oversized, floor-standing chess pieces."
""Being invited to design the hotel's annual Christmas tree is a huge honor," Lee said in a press release. "I saw it as an opportunity to celebrate tradition and togetherness-expressing the season through vibrant colors and rich textures. Christmas is my favorite time of the year.""
"The historic Mayfair hotel is not new to curating runway-worthy holiday decor. For 15 years, the store has invited designers and other distinguished guests to reinterpret the classic Christmas tree in their own distinctive styles. Past participants include luminaries like Karl Lagerfeld, Diane von Furstenberg, and Christian Louboutin."
Hotels worldwide have commissioned fashion designers to decorate Christmas trees in signature brand styles that reflect each brand's DNA. These installations shift from traditional holiday decor toward expressions ranging from maximalist glamour to sculptural modernity. At Claridge's in London, Burberry's Daniel Lee created a 16-foot tree adorned with some 600 bows made from surplus Burberry fabrics, hanging bells, chess-piece ornaments inspired by the Equestrian Knight Design, a gold crown topper and oversized chess pieces at the base. The Burberry tree debuted Nov. 25, 2025, and Claridge's maintains a 15-year tradition of designer-curated holiday trees. The Pulitzer Amsterdam installed an almost 30-foot tree in its front garden decorated with sparkling, champagne-hued sculptural ornaments dubbed "Festive Sparks."
