Helena Becker, a fashion design student from Düsseldorf, presents her third semester collection named "System to You," inspired by her family history and life in the GDR (East Germany). The collection features three distinct chapters, each represented by outfits embodying significant facets of GDR life. Influenced by her upbringing in a small town, Becker's journey into fashion involved overcoming shyness and merging her interests in photography, graphic design, and fashion, thus developing her distinct voice in self-expression through clothing.
"When you come from a little town with nearly 2000 inhabitants, you live in a kind of small bubble where everyone knows everyone and everyone talks about everyone."
"By questioning and thinking about my choice of study, after some time, I reconsidered fashion. I then realised I wanted to merge both disciplines-bringing together visual communication and clothing as a form of self-expression."
