"I was into American and French cinema, and American music and jazz since I was really young, he says. This led him to attend a high school that had an art program, where creativity led him to materialize his passion for the look of the stars of classic American films. In 2001, Yamamoto-san started Tailor Caid, and in February of 2002, the tailor shop opened its doors to immediate clients and acclaim."
"I'm thrilled with how the Five Fits universe has grown to include all walks, but at the end of the day, I always keep my humble menswear beginnings in mind. I still get excited to feature those who actually work in the industry, so it is my honor to tell Yuhei Yamamoto's story this week, along with the story of his delightfully elegant, Ivy-leaning tailoring business, Tailor Caid."
Yuhei Yamamoto developed an early appreciation for adults and classic American and French cinema, and for American music and jazz. He attended a high school with an art program and later entered art school studying drawing. Concerned that Golden Age American film suit styles from the 1930s–1960s would disappear, he apprenticed under a tailor while still in art school. Yamamoto founded Tailor Caid in 2001; the tailor shop opened in February 2002 to immediate clientele and acclaim. Tailor Caid focuses on Ivy-leaning, elegant tailoring. Yamamoto conducts trunk shows only at The Armoury in New York City.
