The 2024 AFRIK fashion show, marking its 20th anniversary, highlights cultural unity across the African diaspora. Organized by Jaida Anekwe and supported by the Pan-African Students Association, the event features designs from seven professional and four student designers, focusing on African, Caribbean, and African American influences. With about 1,000 attendees, the show fosters community participation through modeling and performances by student groups, making it a beloved event at Cornell University, according to current PASA president Aminata Jaiteh.
"I just felt so proud. The audience was cheering, the models were in character and displaying the clothes so beautifully... we accomplished it."
"It's going to be a commemorative show, bringing back a lot of designers we've worked with in the past... it's their favorite event at Cornell."
