Experience: I rent out my mohawk as a billboard
Briefly

A father in Littleton, Colorado, embraced a mohawk hairstyle for Crazy Hair Day, initially meant to be temporary. His conservative community surprisingly accepted the style. His wife started styling the mohawk, transforming it into elaborate designs, including themes of music, celebrations, and social causes. They began sharing their creative hairstyles on social media, gaining attention beyond their town. The mohawk evolved into a way to connect with the community, express individuality, and commemorate significant events.
My mohawk became a billboard for music I liked — Lynyrd Skynyrd, Metallica, Modern English — as well as important causes, both local and international.
I loved creating holiday mohawks. I've had the Easter bunny pooping jelly beans on my head, while for Halloween I'd go out with it covered in cartoon pumpkins.
Early on, we started posting pictures of our designs on Facebook and later we opened an account on Instagram, too. That's when I started to get attention from outside our town.
I went to the barber shop and came back with a small mohawk. My wife, Julie, wasn't so keen, and I promised I'd shave it off the next day.
