Wish You Were Here: Riding camels in Tangier
Briefly

Concord residents Jane and Jim Young recently embarked on an exciting cruise exploring the Iberian Peninsula, visiting Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. Their adventurous journey included climbing onto camels for a ride along the beach in Tangier. After the cruise, they spent time in Barcelona, where they focused on architect Antoni Gaudi's iconic creations. They offered practical travel tips for visiting Barcelona, such as affordable lodging options and museum entry deals, while sharing excitement about upcoming events in the city.
Our must-do visits included several of architect Antoni Gaudi's masterpieces with their distinctive free flowing and colorful designs, Jane says.
We found more affordable Barcelona lodging away from central downtown. We ultimately chose the Plaza de Catalunya, where Metro is nearby and easy to navigate.
Museums are free on the first Sunday of the month and some on other weeknights. Note that unlike the other museums, the popular Picasso Museum requires advance reservations.
In 2026, La Sagrada is expected to be finished, which will no doubt draw even bigger crowds of visitors.
