"I saw Madrid's match against Rayo. I don't know where those nine or ten minutes of extension of the game came from. I saw some plays that some players are already getting used to diving inside the box, to make it look like they are touched, and that should be a card. I saw that Rayo was very damaged. The defender touches the ball badly, he gets off balance, lifts his leg and does not kick the striker who throws him to the ground. It was exaggerated."
"The referee according to his criteria can whistle what he considers, but from the point of view of the football fan, I think these penalties are exaggerated and that they should not have been called. I say this in a constructive sense. Sometimes it happens in our favor and I would say it anyway. We are talking about a club that has a television that is dedicated to explaining things out of place and saying that the referees constantly and permanently harm them."
Joan Laporta questioned the nine or ten minutes of stoppage time and criticized the late penalty that decided Real Madrid's win over Rayo Vallecano. He alleged some players are resorting to diving inside the box to simulate contact and said such simulation should be punished with a card. He described the tackle as exaggerated, saying the defender misplays the ball, loses balance and is then brought down. He accepted referees apply their criteria but, from a fan perspective, deemed some penalties excessive. He also accused a Real Madrid TV channel of biased claims about referees.
