The NWSL is closing in on Denver as its latest expansion franchise, with negotiations led by IMA Financial Group CEO Rob Cohen, aiming for a record fee.
The expansion fee is expected to be between $105 million and $120 million, which would set a new record for the league.
League commissioner Jessica Berman previously identified Denver, Cincinnati, and Cleveland as finalists, with Denver currently leading for the 16th team.
Cohen, the controlling owner, is deeply involved in the Denver sports scene, adding confidence to the expansion efforts of the NWSL.
