Manchester United's new head coach Ruben Amorim is intent on strengthening the left-back position by considering a re-sign of Alvaro Carreras, formerly known as Alvaro Fernandez. The Red Devils have already secured a young talent in Diego Leon but seek experience with Carreras should they activate their buy-back option in 2025.
Despite having a buy-back clause worth 20 million euros, Manchester United must still compete with Real Madrid and Barcelona to secure the signature of Alvaro Carreras. Both clubs are in search of a left-back and view the 21-year-old as a viable, economical target in the transfer market.
Alvaro Carreras' past with Manchester United provides the club with an advantage in the pursuit of his return. The new manager's positive views gained from watching Carreras at Sporting CP bolster their interest as they aim to bolster their squad.
