Barcelona has secured focus on finalising a deal for Julian Alvarez while monitoring other squad-strengthening opportunities. Real Sociedad goalkeeper Alex Remiro has emerged as a target to provide backup to first-choice Joan Garcia. Real Sociedad are open to a Remiro sale and have accepted the possibility of his departure this summer, with a contract running until 2027. Remiro has communicated an intention to seek a new challenge, and the club would facilitate a move if an offer between €8 million and €10 million arrives. Barcelona values Remiro’s experience, reliability, and ball-playing ability, and Deco has made enquiries. Barcelona cannot move decisively due to an overcrowded goalkeeping situation and limited financial flexibility until exits occur.
"Real Sociedad have already accepted the possibility of Remiro leaving the club this summer. The 31-year-old goalkeeper, whose contract runs until 2027, has communicated his intention to seek a new challenge, and the Basque club are prepared to facilitate his departure if an offer between €8 million and €10 million arrives at Anoeta."
"Remiro's name remains firmly on Barcelona's agenda. Hansi Flick particularly values the goalkeeper's experience, reliability and ability with the ball at his feet, while Deco has already made enquiries in order to understand the player's situation first-hand. However, Barcelona are not currently in a position to move decisively for the operation."
"Barcelona's immediate priority is to resolve the overcrowded goalkeeping situation within the current squad. Garcia is considered untouchable after joining the club last year, while Wojciech Szczesny is expected to remain for another season in order to complete the final year of his contract. At the same time, the club are working to find exits for both Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Inaki Pena, who have completed their respective loan spells last season at Girona and Elche."
